The other evening, at a very inopportune time (as is usually the case), I had an idea. One I could not execute right in the moment. I jotted it on our little refrigerator white board, knowing that if I did not, the next time I’d remember it would be at another inopportune time.
“Jack-O-Leaves"
The next morning I went out to my yard and woods on a hunt for a variety of colorful leaf specimens, brought them inside, and proceeded to cut jack-o-lantern faces into them with an x-acto knife blade:
Then I grabbed my camera and brought my new Leaf-O-Lanterns outside. It’s one of those projects where I just accept that I’mma look like a nutcase out in my yard, chip-clipping leaves to sticks, contorting myself at odd angles and stretching my arms to near dislocation just to get the subject in the frame of my 50mm f1.8 lens and positioned just-so in front of what remains of the fall foliage on the trees and bushes. Bokeh is just that important to me.
Anyway, I think I got some fun shots and I wanted to share with you all as a little palette cleanser from my creepy-crawly articles. Please let me know what you think!

Alright back to work on my final creepy-crawly article (and by back to work I mean trying really hard to get that first sentence down!) See you next time!

Fun!
